OEHHA's deadline for the new "safe harbor" warning label regulations for regulated chemicals under California's Proposition 65's has companies scrambling to update their label inventory. The amendment will require the details of product labels to change by August 30, 2018. Regulations Change, Labels Change It's no secret that chemical label regulations are constantly changing. And every time a new regulation is implemented, businesses are left playing a game of catch-up. The fast-approaching compliance deadline for Prop. 65 isn't any different. Detailed information about the product, facility or environmental exposures, and potential harm from exposure will need to be included on product labels. A business in violation of Prop. 65 may be subject to up to $2,500 per day per violation. To avoid fines, businesses need to update their label details ASAP. Contact Brandywine for help.

If you are shipping or selling products in California, you will be effected by the new Proposition 65 regulations. Even if your business currently labels products with a Prop. 65 warning, the new regulations will require a determination of whether to use the truncated short-form warning label or the full warning label on each product. If the full warning will be used, each product will need a specific label identifying at least one of the chemicals identified from OEHHA’s Prop 65 list. Act Soon to Avoid Non-Compliance with Prop. 65 New requirements must be reflected on all products manufactured after August 30, 2018. Contact Brandywine for assistance.

There are all kinds of variable data you can put on a product label, including lot numbers, expiration or a born on date, alias names, and other product-specific or marketing information that can be helpful to both your staff and customers. Pre-printed labels make it impossible to change information on-the-fly. With on-demand printing, you can add more information to your labels without throwing out your entire inventory. For example if some variations of the same product need different information, you can customize the label instantly rather than waiting for a third-party printer to deliver a new batch.

Like many manufacturers of adhesives and coatings, Rohm & Haas, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical, sells the same chemical product under many different product names for a variety of business reasons. Until they started using Brandywine's Poly-Twin® LX™ Dual-Adhesive™ technology labels, they were forced to completely remove and throw away the initial drum label and replace it with a new label, a costly and time consuming process.
